Read the building tips below, and bookmark this page for future reference:

  • 1. This kit includes two precision Phillips screwdrivers with magnetized tips that will fit all screw sizes. Use a light touch, and gradually more force if needed, but be sensitive to the increase in effort that means a screw is tight enough.
  • 2. Be extra careful with delicate plastic parts like the windshield wipers and hood latches. Do not force screws into holes that seem too tight.
    3. It's always a good idea to wax clear parts and painted body parts before handling to protect from fingerprints and accidental "fogging" from CA glue.
    4. Minimal glue is needed; use the smallest drop possible of CA gel glue ("superglue", but not the thin formula) when necessary, but never near clear parts or painted body parts. "Locktite" makes a nice sized gel bottle with a thin tip (photo below). "Gorilla" also has a CA gel glue, but the Loctite bottle is easier to apply in small drops. Both are readily available without having to find a hobby shop.
    5. Tapping screw holes in the metal parts is not required, but can make assembly easier and helps avoid broken or stripped screws. Residual paint may also reduce the diameter of some screw holes. Tap these holes if needed, or carefully clean out the paint with a handheld drill of an appropriate size.We include a micro metric tap set and handle in our precision tool set. You may also pre-insert the proper screw in the hole to self-tap preliminary threads.
    6. Don't panic when you see the included screw box is empty. The screws are individually bagged and boxed in Pack 6.
    7. Finding parts in these large kits is sometimes a treasure hunt. Some plated and painted parts (e.g. engine parts 4G & 4H) are packed in the clear plastic tray above the boxes even though this is not mentioned in the instructions. Other small parts may be hiding in a recess of a larger part within a bag.
    8. Note that there are "easy" assembly variations for the wire wheels and radiator grill for those who are intimidated by the complexity, or just want to save time. Please read the instruction note below that clarifies a wheel assembly step. If you choose this quicker method and happily finish your model, I recommend you challenge yourself and patiently try one of the more complex assemblies to see how rewarding it can be.
